I got the opportunity, I jumped; I love it.” And how did
the opportunity come about? Michelle shares, “I was looking for office work, and a friend of mine, our coordinator Ronald Gaskins, referred me to this job.”
And it’s all hands on deck. “My boss books the groups, but we run the groups. If I'm needed, I'll run the group.” Michelle is there Monday through Friday, and the priority is always the clients.
Though only men are housed here, women are welcome to join the group sessions as well. For those who live off-property: “We also feed them breakfast and lunch here, and then they go home for dinner.” Michelle is very impressed with the residences, describing: They have nice spacious rooms with dressers, they’re allowed to have TVs, and the houses are beautiful. Nnenna really did a great job picking out the homes and furnishing them.” And there is a house manager to make sure everyone is safe and sound at all times. Michelle is amazed at how far New Place of Recovery has come in such a short time and praises Nnenna and the dedicated staff. “I wish her all the best. We are doing an amazing job for just launching this year. We have two houses and a van now; Nnenna is super. I wish nothing but the best for her. Never in my wildest dreams did I think we would be this far so soon.” She adds with happiness, “I love my job.”
