Stovall says she’s thankful to be part of a program designed to reunify families and break the cycle of addiction for people struggling with substance abuse. “We’re all in this together and my goal is just to help the community in any way I can to become a better, stronger community,” Stovall says. Stovall also oversees NCADD’s recovery support services, working alongside prevention specialists Lauren Stovall, Pat Jones, and peer support specialist Sheldon Hill.The team works with people who are in the early stages of recovery, directing them to resources and helping them to find housing, employment, and anything else they may need to be successful. While she’s pleased with the programming NCADD is able to offer, Stovall says they are continually looking to grow and evolve to meet the changing needs of those in the community. For the People Dedication to others creates lasting change in the community Helping people in need has always been part of Tonie Stovall’s life. So when it was time to choose a career, she knew she wanted to make people a priority. Now working as a prevention program coordinator at NCADD, Stovall says she may have found her “dream job.” “I love the people that I work with, it’s so much fun,” Stovall says. “They’re so genuine and so sincere, it’s never a dull moment.” Celebrating families As the prevention program coordinator, Stovall facilitates the Celebrating Families program, going out into the community, visiting schools and other organizations to promote healthy life skills.They speak to kids and parents about how to develop healthy communication skills, anger
