NCADD

Creating change Recovery from drug and alcohol addiction can be extremely difficult, and Stovall knows that not everyone will be successful their first time through the program. But she says the stories of those who do find success stick with her and motivate her to continue working to help more people. While Stovall takes joy out of meeting new people and interacting face-to-face, she says the real fulfillment comes when she is able to see people succeed and change their lives for the better. “When you see the youth that you work with and they come out and they’re doing well, and they’re getting into college, and families have changed, it’s a good moment,” Stovall says. “It’s always just a proud moment to know that the program is successful and that it’s working.” With the programs creating positive change and benefiting the community, Stovall says she’s proud of the progress they’ve made so far. And while she may love meeting people one-on-one, she’s not limiting herself to just those she can meet in person. For both Stovall and the NCADD organization as a whole, the focus is on reaching as many individuals as possible to create a lasting impact in the community. “Detroit is changing a lot,” Stovall says. “We would love to be part of that resurgence in any way we can.” 
